Gear Box Oil

Hi, guys. I would like some views/opinions on the following. My Series 2 is due a gearbox oil change. There was an article in October's Scootering mag about gearbox oil and what it should look like. I drained a sample from mine and it's pretty black, which it's always been every time I've changed it...

Re: Horn

Back in the day(1970s), air horns used to be all the rage. Does no-one use them these days?

Try North West Scoots in Warrington

I don’t think they have been open long, but run by road garn scooterists.

Hope that helps

Excellent! Thanks for that. Don't have a need at the moment, but you never know.

Lambretta Workshops In The Northwest.

Zootscoot in Warrington shutdown last year(Geoff decided it was time to retire).

Does anyone know of places in the Liverpool/Manchester area that do Lambretta servicing/repairs/spares etc?

Re: Checking Torque Settings

However, the fundamental cure for head leakage is to eliminate the weak link. I have not used head gaskets since the early 70's & will not do so again.
Interesting. Is that with standard Lambretta cylinders and heads, or "special" ones?

Checking Torque Settings

Just replaced my head gasket and torqued the cylinder head nuts to the correct torque.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that they should be checked after a certain milage. Is this right and if so after how many miles?

Re: Torque Wrench

Thanks guys. I'll need one in the 20Nm range for the cylinder head nuts.

New Head Gasket

My head gasket blew on my Series 2 during a ride the other day. Seems a simple enough job, but these simple jobs have a habit of not being simple.

Any hints and tips to keep it simple?

One question. It's had a stage 4 175 conversion. What gasket do I need? A TV 175 perhaps??
