My best scoots

Not sure if the picture thing has worked (I’m not very computer savvy) but hopefully heres some pics of my lost loves… I’ve enjoyed reading the scooter stories on the forum so heres a bit of mine. I got the black one (KDN 71S which started life as a Serveta 125) from a guy in Middlesboro in 1981 whe...

Re: GP200 head skimming?

It says on DVLA that it was a 125, but it was a 150 with a stage 4 TV175 engine (and it was black), I guess someone reregistered it. Does the 1986 date liability thing mean that was when it was last taxed? If so the guy I sold it to was probably the last user before it went off the road I bet it doe...

Re: GP200 head skimming?

Personally if it goes as you said, I would leave it alone, there is a lot to be said for " if it aint broke don`t fix it" fitting different carbs or exhausts, skimming your cylinder head could only end in tears unless done properly. Wise and correct words, but I dont think I can help myse...

Re: GP200 head skimming?

Cheap by usual prices but I'm afraid not by mine. I was born in Scotland and raised in Yorkshire so I only pay a quid, and its pretty hard getting that out of the wallet safe too! :D I was hoping to find a s/h set up for about £50, dont think thats out of the way is it? If I cant find anything I'll ...

Re: GP200 head skimming?

Whats the squish ? I have no idea, its just standard. cancel the 19 tooth sprocket, try a better carb and exhaust(borrow one) dont bother with the head at this moment you have a reasonable scooter messing about will only result in failure! I'll be going down the carb/exhaust road too, just won an ol...

Re: GP200 head skimming?

It says in the Indian SIL handbook that they're 7.3 to 1, the one with the silly pics in it.

Thanks for the link Rosscla, I see they do an 8.1 to 1 too, I'll give them a call and see what they say.

I run on 97 ron anyway so might get away with it.

Re: GP200 head skimming?

70!!! I wish! Starts and runs very well, will hold 55/60 without too much trouble and not too bad at climbing hills, best I've done on the flat with no wind is 65 (I'm 6 foot and 14 1/2 stone. Remember its standard, except for Clubman, matched inlet/barrel and matched exhaust manifold/barrel...

GP200 head skimming?

Hi all, Thinking about getting the head skimmed on my std SIL GP200 with clubman. Book says the std comp set up should be 7.3 to 1, what could I take off without giving myself any pre ignition problems? Just looking for a bit more grunt and nothing too daft seeing as the engine just has Indian beari...

Re: What spark plug to use for WOT?

Thanks for that. I called AF Rayspeed to order one and they said they prefer Champion as Ray thought he lost up to 500rpm (at max rpm)running an NGK. Anyway, getting an N4 and an N3 (N3 same as B8ES I think), going to use the N3 for all round use and long runs and keep the N4 for back up. Best regar...
