Re: A bit boggy - cold weather???
A stab in the dark, but could be a dust-laden air filter suddenly getting clagged up by the moisture in the air, making the carb run rich? May be worth a check... A hydroscopic air filter? There is always a first time for everything, unless it is hanging out with [youtube]http://youtu.be/l5aZJBLAu1...

Re: Engine Bolt Removal
If Lambretta, it's likely to be seized in the engine mounts, so take off both nuts, spray thoroughly with plusgas or similar and leave overnight. Then put some large washers the same internal size as the original washer on one side only as packers, refit the nut and tighten to draw the bolt out. Kee...

Re: Cowelling sizes
Just checked my deep flywheel cowling, and the depth of the rim flange (that bolts to the mag flange) is 59mm externally. On the inside it clears the fins on an Indian electronic flywheel by only a few mm.

Re: loom
May be as well to fit one of the "simplified" looms while it's in bits to avoid faffing around with connecting wires together, but also to have the safeguard of new wiring. Got mine from Scootopia: just ask tell them the loom is for a Series 2 and they'll supply one that's just that little...

Re: can't get me clutch off
Try using one of the "professional" fork spring compressors: you'll never be able to play the piano again! The only left-hand thread is on the flywheel nut.

Re: help poor starting
If the carb overflows with the fuel on but the engine off, it could be a stuck float, a holed float, or a mucky/damaged float valve. If it doesn't, it could be a loose jet or fuel in the float making the fuel level in the float chamber get too high. Take it out and give it a shake to check if in dou...

Re: Clutch plate gap
No problem. Hope you get it sorted. From my recent experience, 1mm is the minimum gap (from cold) that will work. As Coaster suggests, a bit more will allow for greater expansion due to clutch slipping in traffic, etc (we don't believe in hills hereabouts...). If it's ok when cold, but tight when ho...

Re: Clutch plate gap
Yes, I had the same recently: new clutch plates expanding when hot so the gap between the plates closes up to nothing, meaning the clutch doesn't fully disengage. Using a clutch compressor tool, fully compress the clutch, then check the gap between the top (chamfered) and the top friction plate, whe...
