Re: Rotax 300 builld
One of the reasons I decided to do what I'm doing was the fact that the RB25 kits are $1000 Ughumph...Where are they $1000 Guatamala, Aleutian Islands ? Here in the states by the time you add a head, tax, and shipping it's getting darn close to that. But the price of the kit isn't the topic of this...

Re: Rotax 300 builld
Correction! Finally found some parts illustrations that shed a bit of light on the water passages as well as receiving some advice from Rich_T regarding coolant flow. It seems Ricspeed is correct in that the Rotax motor pumps coolant up from the crankcase through the base of the barrel, around the e...

On the stock engine, the pump must be located externally somewhere. You are correct about the water port on the bot...

Re: Rotax 300 builld
Agreed! Rich is a wealth of knowledge. Ric, you mentioned moving the LC inlet to the base? Why's that? The head is half the original (motor was a twin) so the water jackets flow through the head and cylinder just like stock. With a water pump moving everything and a pressurized system, it shouldn't ...

Re: outboard disc kit from beedy
Muttley, I picked up the PM Tuning kit you linked to and it's top notch. Haven't yet installed it though so I can't comment on performance but the engineering and presentation side of things is excellent. I like the idea of having a one-piece aluminum wheel as well. Bolt-on, two piece steel rims jus...

Re: 64mm stroke crank with 125mm rod
You guys have vocalized all of my concerns. Shelling out the dough to get a one-off crank only to have it go 'boom' is not something I'm willing to live with. If it requires extra labor to fit something that will last, so be it. Rich_T has a crank with wider webs that sounds like it may be perfect f...

Re: Rotax 300 builld
At this point, the adapter plate is tack welded to the cases until everything is 'dry fit'. I'm still sorting out the crank and until I know if I can install it without modifying the cases, it will remain as such. With the 64mm stroke and 125mm rod, I'm not sure if it will slide in like a standard L...

Re: Rotax 300 builld
Machining the crankcase down was the first order of business https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4358/36752006412_0d7dc7c7d2_m.jpg Then it was a matter of hogging out a piece of 25mm aluminum to match the barrel. This will get welded to the Lamby crankcase. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4353/36752006172...

Rotax 300 builld
First off, a big shout out to Rich_T and Rocho68 for their motivation on this project, whether they know it or not. Of course, my old buddy Hotrodlambretta was a huge influence and motivator as well! Here's what I'm starting with. Jet 200 purchased locally in Los Angeles... https://farm5.staticflick...
