Earlier heads are (slightly) higher compression. Harry Barlow tuned me an autisa barrell and advised the later head with the height of the barrell No packer or head recessing like the standard P2 barrel tune he does. Perhaps I should have caveated my response. The carb change came after cleaning the carb, checking mixture, new float needle more cleaning
Then went into electrical side with no joy, coming back to carb.

As far as I know genuine Piaggio cylinders and pistons are the same. They have come with several different heads over the years, early ones suited to leaded petrol. SIP and BGM did a pattern one that was slightly shorter, allegedly 12HP out of the box, but I'm sceptical of that (happy to be proved w...

Worn out carb.... Had exactley the same on a T5.
Tried everything as I could nt believe it could be the carb after sonic cleaning etc.
Borrowed a carb as I was stumped and bingo.

It's a while since I did a T5, but from memory yes all the self tappers out and dismantle.
Don't forget to push the speedo cable up from the bottom to give play on the speedo
