Re: And todays cockup is !???
Not long after starting working at MB Mark did an engine rebuild for a lad from Essex. This lad fitted the engine and was having no end of problems setting it up, it wouldn't rev out, all sorts. Cue about 2 weeks of phone calls, try this, what about that etc. Customer started getting abusive and thr...

Re: And todays cockup is !???
Again, when living in London, I had a few mates at Uni in Leeds so I used to often pop up to see them for a weekend on the t5. Riding up the A1 I could hear a really odd noise like a high pitched whistle. The scooter was running ok but I had blown up a couple of top ends so I was being cautious. Sto...

Re: And todays cockup is !???
When I lived in London it was in a terraced house so the scooters lived in the front garden and that was where all maintainence was done. I was changing the clutch on my t5 and, as was his habit, my dear late Dad came out to sit on the garden wall and watch me work. All went well, I stood the scoote...

I think the late Pete Robinson (chromer/engraver) used to do some. Got a feeling Jason Frost did something?

Re: Exhaust issue would not be resolved by buying another
There is an issue with the exhaust flange being done strangely. If you imagine looking at the fitted engine side on, the exhaust gasket face is 10mm nearer the floor than normal. The official explanation I've heard for this is to use longer exhaust studs that are less likely to strip threads but of ...

Re: Ricspeed - Rich Smith - Rest In Peace
I met Rich's neice Kayleigh at the Lee Scratch Perry concert in York. I asked after the children. She said they are doing OK. They are having specialist counselling to help them which is a long haul process. Rich's eldest daughter has his trophy from Brid and polishes it every night. Mothers day com...

Re: Cyclone with MB Layshft
Message from Mark As far as I can see our layshafts are machined correctly where the selector balls fit and where the 4/5th gears sit setting up neutral. We've checked as many Innocenti/Spanish/SIL layshafts as we can get our hands on. Our MB layshafts are machined shorter by a bit where the gears s...

Re: Cyclone with MB Layshft
Mark has fitted a couple of cyclones with MB layshafts and they went in OK. Like any job shimming a gearbox it can take a while but if you are good at maths you can get round it. There are so many variables in that area - rear hub bearings, gearboxes, endplates. I am not sure why the layshaft is aut...
