Re: GT240 Build

A couple more steps forward, I think it will be a while before I can post anything as exciting as the initial machining. Porting is now done: http://i.imgur.com/Lw9wCet.jpg Rear bearing & layshaft are in: http://i.imgur.com/oN2FQHk.jpg And I tried the knob jockeys brake kit, here's a picture as ...

Re: Gear Selector

Gear Selector

Purchased this gear selector shown below with a bunch of parts from Scooter Restorations but I'm wondering if it's ok. Looking at other pictures online and I see a slot at the back and splines in the bore to accept the selector shaft. Is this one ok or perhaps unfinished? The bolt hole is threaded o...

Re: GT240 Build

Got a couple of jobs done over the weekend that I wasn't looking forward to. First was fitting the silent blocks (SIL) as I was scared of breaking a mount, but it all turned out ok. Drive side went in nicely on the first attempt but the mag side took a couple of goes before things lined up correctly...

Re: GT240 Build

Yes, a home-made CNC mill, it's way beyond me. I remember this mill being purchased sometime in the 80's but in recent years the bed has been replaced & fitted with ball-screws and stepper motors along with the machine head. The motor speed is also computer controlled, I think the software is so...

Re: GT240 Build

Thanks for the replies. I absolutely love the spannering aspect to scooters but I have to keep reminding myself that not everyone does as I can frequently bore people stupid with my ramblings (including my wife). It's also why I prefer the older stuff to the newer stuff, it's more of a challenge for...

GT240 Build

I mentioned in the 'GT Big Block' thread about having one of the 62/110 cranks so here's some pictures of the crank & the work so far. This thread also gives me a place to cry for help when I run in to problems, despite having some excellent advice right on my doorstep in the form of 'James roun...
