Sticky has carried out lots of exhaust comparison tests in the past. You need to be more specific, SD. Start by telling us whether it was for a Vespa or a Lambretta.
I understand that Scootering has an excellent archive that allows you to order back-issues.

I have a pair of armoured jeans. They are double demin (!) in all the right places, and have armoured pads in knees and on your arse (though I have removed the latter). I appreciate that you don't want jeans, but the reason I mention this is that they have armour that is designed to absorb impact. K...

That drawing ^ is for Li style engine mounts, not the larger mounts that most of us use.
If you build a removal tool for the larger type, it will work for the smaller mounts too.

No. A 2mm plate or washer on the outside will not allow the stand to sit at the correct angle, unless you weld something for the stand stop.

You could fit a longer con-rod and a packing plate in order to space it off the engine mount, or is that a bit drastic?

Here are the photos of my fan cowl with the anti-cavitation ring fitted inside the cowl, and a photo of the three fixing points made for the ring on the outside of the cowl.
