You need to cut the black wire back or terminate it so there's no connection to it... it's basically an earth wire. I fitted one. Very nicely made. A whole lot stronger than the Pinasco it replaced, but then I've only done 130 odd miles so far. We don't really have easy access to dynos so no figures, but I did see on the GSF that with very little change (opening transfers) it out preformed a (non-reed) Quattrini....
