Thanks everyone for your replies. Nope, I have the 58 Mec crank, not the 60, but that was a good point to make. I'll check all the things suggested by y'all. I've got a spare seal and I'm ordering a new bearing now. Then it's off to the garage with high hopes.

Did I F' up my engine rebuild?
I'm rebuilding my lower end (not the tranny) & top end on Jet/SX cases with new everything. New bearings, seals, MEC black crank, etc. All quality bits. I've run into something that concerns me and I'm wonder if I'm being paranoid. It's been over a decade since I mucked around this deep in a Lam...

I'm in San Diego, Cali. Out in Lakeside actually, but I'll drive anywhere to look at lambrettas.
So if no one has stepped up to help, PM me and I'll help get you sorted in the right direction. Lambrettas sell pretty fast in this town, so hopefully it's not sold.

it was in a farmyard which luckily had a public footpath running through .the farmers lads were into crossers and had previously rode it round the fields and badly damaged the casing .so it was put on the scrap pile for the local collector to pick up . they reconned they had had one of those little...
