Full DC ignition with external pick up. Far more stable and robust. Add a kytronik if you want retsrd. ive got the same set up on my rotax, stator only uses the lighting coils to charge the battery, scootronics dc coil and cdi unit and external pick-up. all runs directly from the battery, have used...

steve ive just set one up on my mates engine i rebuilt ive set it at 21as it avances 2degrees first ie 23 at3000rpm then retards as far as 16/15 depending on pipe and what the engine revs too cheers garry, its not ready to start up yet, waiting on the carb, did yours strobe ok ? was that a casa 225...

very interesting read, these engines are going to be a game changer, the amount of work and attention to detail will make all the difference to the quality of the end product, ive been using my home made 290 for a couple of years now so I know how good they are and im sure they will be a huge succes...

sounds like you have what you need, all you need to do now is fill in the form correctly, if the scooter is over 40 years old then it will be classed as historic instead, also send a covering letter to explain why you have no paperwork for the scooter, they may want to inspect it as well

ive got a scoot rs disc on one of my scooters and that's using disc links but its anti dive, the speedo drive just sits in place and is not a problem, would guess the spaq one will work just the same.
