Small end bearing question

I'm building my engine using a go crank with Yamaha rid and an SR 185 kit. As per photo the Yamaha small end bearing is approx 17 mm wide whereas the gap in the piston is approx 24 mm wide. Guess I need a wider bearing it some spacers? How much play should there be between the small end bearing and ...

Re: Gear Cluster Rubbing on Casing

Thanks ! Both the new MB and original shims match the specs in stickies to within a gnats whisker. Must be the photo making it look wrong.
Will go ahead and build with one shim.
Thanks to all for help.

Re: Gear Cluster Rubbing on Casing

Got my new correct shim from MB and guess what it's identical to the one I have and gear cluster still scrapes. With both shims on together it rotates freely but I guess best to go with 1 shim and trust spider will pull it into place?

Re: Layshaft / Gearbox Endplate Problem

Thanks Carlos, spot on stuck on the o ring . Had some grease on the inside of bearing , cleaned that out and a tap with a hammer and all good now.

Layshaft / Gearbox Endplate Problem

I've tried to assemble the gearbox to check the end float while waiting for my new xmas tree shim to arrive. Bit of a problem though. I've pulled the layshaft into place with an MB puller but the layshaft is too far out and the end plate won't seat -it's about 5 mm out. Can only think it's a problem...

Re: Gear Cluster Rubbing on Casing

@Bazza3004 sorry missed your post before I replied , in the photo the layshaft has the shim on the end, the only wear mark is the one on the inside of the casing so am thinking could build as is but will get new shim to make it right, even though local dealer doesn't have one so will be waiting at l...

Re: Gear Cluster Rubbing on Casing

Thanks guys, will get a new shim anyway as want it to be "right" . The shim I have is the one I took out but being in Asia that doesn't mean to much [SMILING FACE WITH OPEN MOUTH]
