I've know guppy since I was 14. I used to live in walmgate, then southbank for 30 odd years. Am in pocklington now for the last three years.
Had my first scooter at 14. Remember you lads as the Saxons. Lime Green helmets I think.

Re: lifespan of powder coat?
My question is what is the lifespan of powder coat....not is paint better than powder. I seem to remember in the past car manufacturers giving 7 years warranty on paint, rusting from inside out. The powder may have been applied incorrectly I don't know. It has lasted 10 years. On my scooter the life...

Re: lifespan of powder coat?
Seems to be the powder. Its the wheel rims, fuel tank, frame tube, underneath of mudguard. The loop and panels are painted they are good. Either bad preparation or was powder coat not as good ten years ago and improved now. I wouldn't mind but I support Leeds .........fook knows why I had it painted...

Re: lifespan of powder coat?
No it won't
The paint is perfect. The powder coat is rusted from inside out. I will try post photos.
Look at my series 2 on old scooter. Painted over 10 years ago. Stored in same garage. Paint not bubbling.

Re: lifespan of powder coat?
My scooter was done 10 ish years ago. So that's why I am not complaining about the painter. The paint is still good as well. It was a very reputable dealer who applied the powder/paint. Has powder coat improved over the years. Advances in technology etc and perhaps older powder is not as good. Or is...

Re: lifespan of powder coat?
I thought powder coat had to be applied to bare metal, not phosphurus treated rust metal. I did a t5 in powder coat L and N in castleford did it many years ago, it was very good .double the 100 quid price. If your getting that its a bargain I would say. My original post is questioning the longevity ...
