That's fine if you have a px , older models have no access to brake pedal hole , as the pedal is on a pivot on side of frame up from floor

Cottage cheese threads and pattern cruciform, with heavy handed over tightening

Bad luck. I wedged a fine flathead screwdriver between the cruciform and selector rod and twisted. I was lucky, it helped the rod thread out. Have used that method myself! The trick is too try and put pressure on the cruciform and use a set of mole grips or similar on the rod to pull and turn , goo...
