Check out my post from 5 days ago..... Why not helicoil? If the holes after being drilled out can take a fully formed thread with a helicoil tap for an insert then I don't see a problem. Couple of good ideas for replacing dowels on the other thread as well.

Gearbox end plate
Just opened up a 68 Spanish LI g/box & the end plate studs are all needing heli-coiled(someone in the past has re-built the engine leaving a bit of a mess). Trouble is with the end plate not being tightened properly it's been' rocking' leaving the dowel holes elongated. Anybody got any suggestio...

Just building a TV 200 engine.when checking the port height's on the barrel the inlet,exhaust & transfer dimensions match the first version exactly but the exhaust width is only 42 mm not the 46 mm as per first version. The port dimensions are not per 2nd version. Can anybody throw any light on ...

I've had the same problem with a 67.0 mm two ring ( 1.5mm thick ) asso. No new rings available.
Is there another type/ make of rings I can use.

Right from the off I changed the barrel & piston to take it out the equation.
Going to double check squish,timing & the fuel.
Next step is crank out & another one tried.
