Re: Flush hydraulic brake system
I would bleed it so the reservoir is low but not empty then top up with fresh and bleed it through after topping up 2 or 3 times you can be sure its all new in the system. you may be able to disconnect the fitting and blow it out with an air line but not worth the effort IMO

Re: Engine parts rebuild list ?
something to remember when you see that cheap (200 quid) BARE casing on ebay. every nut washer and stud will need to be bought, why do people strip them down to that level most bits will be left on the shed floor when you have finished as no one wants a 2nd hand engine stud, but it all costs to repl...

Re: AC vs DC stators and electronic kits.
Oh that's good.. any idea which one? doesn't really matter but when I add the extra wire I use a black or blue wire (whatever I have that wont get mixed up with the white red or green) That's the one to earth. I think you are all overcomplicating this. I haven't used gel batteries but always use th...

Re: AC vs DC stators and electronic kits.
As a confirmed DC user I fail to understand why folk opt for AC. The benefits are plain to see with good lights that don't flicker. The whole system comes down to one extra wire and swapping the regulator for a Wassel type as opposed to a Vespa one. Battery technologies has moved on a bit in 60 year...

Re: Dip beam / MOT ?
I always put a big blob of solder on the contacts of the bulb, they often seem to have bugger all on them these days, also as said bend the contacts in to meet the bulb. I have also had problems with the contacts on the switch, I know you have replaced it, but the switch is very crude relying on som...

Re: Help with carb, I think
Sound like the builder is covering his arse by saying its running rich till you run in. I suspect the 50 pilot and the 130 for a 185 is way over the top. You want to try and get it to start and warm up. I'm happy that I have to put choke on, no throttle and it starts 1st or 2nd kick, you should be a...

Re: Help with carb, I think
The Jetex carb gets a lot of flack but at the end of the day thousands out and running without problem. You say you are getting fuel in the carb rubber and that it runs ok or better without the rubber on. Generally I would say you are running Rich but the first think I would do is remove the rubber ...

Re: Pic from inside rear hub
am I missing something, the splines are parallel to each other so should be the same width on the inside as they are on the outside, all the worn hubs I have seen have had a step normally back from the front hub face as the lay shaft stops short. If I have misunderstood please forgive me as I know n...

Re: Adding Battery to a Wassell DC conversion
I'm running mine with a 5 amp fuse on the ground side. Nothing heavy but digital speedo pathfinder and EGT plus normal lights. Only blown it once when I shorted the lamp socket with the headset top off. It did what it should no excitement and I still had lights with the engine running just lost the ...

Re: Searching for an original look 12v dc conversion.
Most of what you want can be done but it's the round coil bit I see as the sticking point. Generally you either stick with points and your round coil but modify the old 6v lighting coils to output 12v you can just about fit a Wassel type regulator inside the original regulator box. I have done sever...
