Re: Coil probs linked to on/off switch? :(
The green to the cut out switch is merely an extension of the stator feed to the coil, to cut the engine the switch shorts the power to earth (therefore no voltage at coil). So a broken green here would not affect the running only the ability to stop it.

Re: timing
On an electronic no matter what way you find TDC and measure degrees BTDC the only way to guarantee it is firing at that point is to use a strobe light as you cannot trust the pick up line and flywheel marks. Surely everyone uses one.

Re: DC light switch on AC machine?
There is no difference internally between the seven wire AC and DC series 3 switches. The only difference externally is the colour of the pilot light feed which will be grey (battery) or purple (non battery), and the non battery will have an extension on the brown to feed the horn. I believe the eig...

Re: How to charge a battery
The negative connection of the mini bridge is wired to the regulator (from the same connection that feeds the loom with power). The positive from the mini bridge terminal is connected to the battery's positive connection, then the battery's negative is connected through a fuse to earth. I think you...

Re: Varitronic Ignition fault
Yeah sorry I just copied green to earth from their own table, should be red/black. Check the coil to earth joint and red/black to coil connection before ditching it.

Re: Varitronic Ignition fault
Some tech specs here http://www.lambretta.co.uk/downloads/vari1.jpg From this it shows the feed coil resistance (green to earth) as 290 ohms +/-20%. There is no pick up fitted to the varitronic. You should get a reading of several thousand ohms between the end of the HT lead and the earth wire (conn...

Re: Original GP Electronics
so am i right in thinking its diameter/thickness makes a difference......to resistance........? and that this particular wire may differ from what is used in the rest of loom..........? if so ........i must admit............i have never noticed the difference/and also wasnt aware it would make much...
