Re: Full DC on an Electrex ignition?

Yeah, would be handy to see where the wires terminate at the coils, it's not obvious on any pics I've seen. Odd then, that the drawing shows the 2 yellows connected on the same reg pin, any coils between them are shorted out.

Re: Full DC on an Electrex ignition?

Even for AC only, the brolam diagram doesn't look correct. It is missing a link on the reg, which connects the yellow stator wire(s) to the yellow loom feed. Also the 2 yellows from the stator(?) are shown connected together on the reg, if this is correct then they won't supply a wassel rectifier. D...

Re: Ignition systems

If I was to be persuaded away from points, I would choose either the Ducati Casatronic or Vape. Both systems have been fitted to other marques for years, so should be reliable, electrically. Out of the two, the Vape looks more versatile, as it can be run as full DC , AC or a mix of both without any ...

Re: 6 volt points - help please

As said try a new plug. It sounds like yours has a short between the electrode and casing, or it is tracking down the inside of the plug cap.

Re: Lambretta S2 rectifier

The reg/rec does nothing for the AC (main lights) circuit, it's a balanced system, so the lamps wattage are matched to the full stator output. The rectifier and selenium rectifier act only for the DC circuits and battery charging. The best way to test this is to connect to a battery and measure the ...

Re: wiring problem?

If it won't start without the brown and green connected together, I would suspect you have low, or no power coming from the stator ignition coil. Check the condition and connections on this, especially the earth one.

Re: kytronic spark magnifier

The kytronic spark amplifier is a simple voltage doubler circuit, consisting of a diode and capacitor. The negative cycle of the feed coil is fed through the diode to charge the cap, the voltage stored is then added (in series) to the positive cycle of the feed coil, so doubling the voltage fed into...

Re: New member

Hard to say without testing them. But be aware that if the machine isn't fully wired up, you won't get a spark unless the stator pink is temporarily connected to a good earth.

Hi mate and welcome. Is this the 1 hole brake switch system? If so what problems are you having with it?

Re: Lince(lynx)

So, is it using the split phase charging system, with 2 yellows and a red from the stator to the rectifier?
