When it won't start are the warning lights out and do they flicker on and off?
I've had a few where the contacts on the back of the ignition switch are worn.
It's a cheap plug in part

When there is a fault on the ignition, the timing marks will strobe OK at low revs, but under load they shoot all over the place.....it can be anything in the electrical equation, but usually a bad stator/flywheel combo not firing properly. Tried one at a time a B8 plug, different type of ngk plug cap, ht lead, new Ducati cdi added extra earths and it makes no difference.
