Re: which crank ???

I Spoke to Mr Kemp about the cranks used on the RB, asking him what he would recommend, a full circle crank was not his first choice. I remember Mr Kemp saying somthing along the lines of... if it's not in the crank case to start with, then how can it be drawn into the cylinder, best to fill the cas...

Re: Basic tune to a cast iron 175

Try and use a genuine 175 head if you can, as it will make getting the compression somewhere near usable. Some 150 heads that are skimmed & reprofiled to 175 are so high that they can cause engines to run hot.

Re: CDI Conundrum

A very high voltage makes a return path to earth through that wire.

The high voltages are of short duration, any extra resistance to earth through a low amperage earth wire will cause the box to try and find a path with a lower resistance, so my guess is this could be the probable cause.

Re: CDI Conundrum

The CDI looks to have shorted to earth at the point that the cdi generates a spark that's nearest to the frame. ? This Woukd only happen if a high resistance to the spark at the plug end is high either by a bad earth cdi to frame and engine. Do you use the thick braded wire for engine to frame earth...

Re: CDI Conundrum

I would check earth continuity between cdi frame and engine. High resistance can cause cdi units to fail. Also high resistance at the plug and suppressor cap. I think innocenti reccomend no higher than 5 or 10 k Ohms for the plug and cap. You could also remove any carbon deposits on the spark plug t...

Re: Malossi 221 PROBLEM SOLVED

Did you use two sets of carbon fibre one cut with a second smaller carbon reed over the top ??

Did you keep it with the standard reed stays in use ??

Re: kickstart stops dead/meets resistence at begining of str

Some will tell you to fit a thinner top plate, but that makes no difference as both thick and thin top plate are retained by the circlip, as the position of the circlip is unchanged then both will sit at the same height. Sometimes changing the spider helps as this is what position the clip and top p...

Re: Advice on ally 225 porting needed

Well done on tackling this task on your own. Thought I would throw my little bit of advice when porting transfers in the bore. Once you have decided how high they need to go by degrees or in millimetres carefully mark by scribing, you can use a marker to make this scribed line easier to see. Then ca...
