Re: Engine Nip!

Thanks for reply Gary. That's a relief! Was hoping I didn't have to strip down, clean up, and start all over again!. Only problem I can see now is that by the time I have put 600 miles on I will probably be too old to ride it lol!

Engine Nip!

Evening all, Running in my LIS150, after new piston and rings. Done around 60 miles, so far, nice and steady with no problems. Been out tonight and tackled a few longish hills which I guess put a little too much strain on the engine as it nipped up! I pulled in clutch, coasted for a 100 yards or so,...

Re: Piston Position in Barrel.

Cheers for replies guys. Got my first scoot back in 1970, and knew nothing about things like squish. As per 'dennis' , just used to pull it to bits with my Dad, put it back together, (never knew torque wrenches existed back then, so all nuts and bolts tightened until tight!!)and generally off I woul...

Re: Piston Position in Barrel.

Thanks for reply 'corrado'. Will give that a try. Not 100% confident in measuring 'squish', but have done loads of reading on 'how to, so hopefully will be oil
P.S. Will excess squish cause low compression?

Piston Position in Barrel.

Evening All! Newbie, novice mechanic here, so please bear with me if any of the following seems blatantly obvious! A couple of weeks ago, due to a blown exhaust gasket, I dropped my LI 150 S engine, took off cylinder head and barrel. There was no base gasket under the barrel, just the remains of som...

Re: Cylinder Head Damage.

I think so Chris. Only had bike a few weeks and guy I bought it off had put a new piston in, but no explanation as to why! Will be running it in for a while, but seems OK at moment! (famous last words!!)

Re: Cylinder Head Damage.

Thanks for response 'Knowledge'. Marks are too deep to rub out, and I didn't want to put dremmel on them in case I did more harm than good lol! Might see how things are when all other jobs are sorted and if bike not running as should, will re-visit. Nice to know there are a few spares about though, ...
