Re: lambretta 290 rotax

just a little update, this has been on the road now for 2 years which sort of surprised me, biggest fault ive had in that time has been the exhaust cracking, ive had a few electrical issues which ive addressed now, but it developed a few oil leaks, rear hub bearing and kickstart shaft which made me ...

Re: RB20 long stroke

ive done one of these, I think it ended up with a packer top and bottom as the piston came out of the top of the barrel, used a mammoth head and doweled it to the barrel, did a bit of alteration to the ports as well.

Re: Lloydie's S2 (slow) restoration

If I pack up the footboard it needs to go so high that I run out of thread on the rear runners. I've bought some threaded M5 (M4?) sleeves so could extend them(as below), but not ideal as it messes with the leggies as well and I'll have to put probably 10mm of packing under the main and front cross...

Re: Crikey its quiet in here ..iet in here...in here... here..

I would say that the old saying , use it or lose it applies, its easy to just view threads, but this sight is more than that, there is a wealth of information that a lot of members on here have and a lot of them share that information willingly. I hope the forum does keep going I visit at least once...

Re: exhaust mountings, solid or rubber mounted, thoughts ?

100% agree with a.lo.v2. What you seem to have is 3 flexible points and one fixed, ''the pipe has 3 rubber mountings and is clamped to the stub'' If you let it 'float' at the stub your problems may disappear. If its any help, my sprinter has 2 bobbins, one is situated about mid point at the biggest...

Re: exhaust mountings, solid or rubber mounted, thoughts ?

I quite like the idea of a flexible joint, I presume its like cars have, a sort of braided steel, when I repair it it just seems to crack somewhere else, it is all on rubber mounts at the moment, I guess its the resonance that vibrates back and forth that splits it.
