holding flywheel for machining

any tips on holding a lambretta flywheel for machining,i did have an old gp crank,which i was thinking of splitting and using the flywheel side as a mount in the lathe chuck,but i now cant find it, other way is to grip the chuck from the inside on the magnets,don't know if it would run true or damag...

just ordered the 8.3 gramme black one's,they have the same buoyancy as the 6.5 gramme white ones and are a straight swap :D

just had a look at them and they have 6.5 grammes stamped on them,which i can get fron euro carb,but would prefer the black ones which are 8.5 grammes and 1/3rd of the price from wasp performance,could this alter the mixture as the petrol level in the float bowl would be diffrent,cheers

scoot didn't seem to be running right.bit rich,so took float bowl of to find one of the float chambers full of petrol,seem to have read some where that these white type fail regulary due to the ethanol in petrol and the black one's are the preferred type. now looking on wasp performance they list 2 ...

i would fit your intended top end and leave cylinder head nuts loose,then get someone to rotate the engine while you gently nip up the head nuts to your torque settingsthen check engine turns freely with no tight spots,there will be a bit of play on the little end to piston fit,so this should accomo...

best way to sort this,is look at it like buying a cheap car,seller wants £400,i offer £300,we meet in the middle at £350,so 3.5 % and everyone is happy :lol:

to get the port timings to something more acceptable for a road engine,i would need to machine 2mm off the base of the cylinder and run with a thick head gasket to get a good squish,the 2mm would be inputted as -2 0n the calculator,was wondering if the 3mm difference in deck height would be inputted...
