Re: How to profile a head

David, I picked up this very wide lump of machine steel and shaped it to a cylinder head contour. http://www.colchesterdvlc.co.uk/images_old/IMG_0201s.jpg The tool can be positioned in the tool-post at slightly different angles to suit pistons with different dome shapes. This saves having to re-grin...

Bling! But chrome won't get you home

Some of you will be aware of this already, but I collected these today. http://www.colchesterdvlc.co.uk/images_old/Aerocoat%20chrome%20small.JPG Good chrome eh? Six bits for £40 and it will never need polishing. It's powder coat, that's why. Aerocoat between Gt Yarmouth and Lowestoft are the only p...

Re: Dems' da brakes

Reverse pull is not recommended for drum brakes. They tend to be too sharp (read: vicous). You'll do do well to file away at the highspots, re-fit and repeat. It might take three visits, but it should improve with (induced) wear. Watch out for asbestos, though new shoes are asbestos free. Mind you, ...

Re: How do I know if....

I suppose the easiest answer is that the SIII barrels, particularly the late ones, have noticably bigger transfers entering the top of the barrel. However, if you don't have two barrels to compare, this maybe difficult to gauge. The SI barrel used a piston with a lower compression height (the distan...

Re: RB20 (200cc) - Pictures and Spec

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y226/drunkmunkey6969/100120091540.jpg I notice from Dan's etching above, that the distance from the base of the transfers/exhaust port is 59mm. Hooray. It needs to be 58mm to match the stroke, but it is often 55mm on the RB22, leading to some really wild transfer ti...
