Heres a standard 125 engine ive just stripped , dosnt have to be a high power motor to fall apart.

If it is too fat, then it might foul on the bolts that retain the swivel base. This might stop the gears selecting properly.
Also if in the photo your not already pulling the clutch in then the lever is to far forward, its already at 90 degrees to the cable , undo the cable and adjust the lever back one or two notches to give some angle on the lever before its pulled .
