I spoke to Harry Barlow at wickstead about a 62mm crank in a ts1 and was advised against it as it would result in too high an exhaust timing he said 60mm was the way to go for a touring style engine.

You dont need to change the tophat spring stops but I wouldnt use the cheap sandcast links with built in damper mounts I snapped 2 on the spindle eye, just fitting them for someone in the end I made a tool to avoid putting load on the eye .

carb choice for ts1 & comp ratio's

thinking of a new engine. my mugelo 225 is 11 years old and now there is a left hand manifold available I don't need to chop off the battery tray and have a ts1 kit . but which carb only want up to 30mm ish not as far as 35mm and want to run a filter as I see it choices are 30mm phbh 30mm vhsh 30mm ...

are they the 2 bits that go over the end of the alloy part of the shoe next to the cam .if they are they are normally zinc plated steel to stop the cam wearing into the alloy they should be fitted .

I made my own leak test kit. to bung up exhaust stubs or any round hole I use the centre parts from sanding drums just grease them tighten the nut and the rubber part expands sealing the hole .there available cheap online

270 high strengh to fix studs
243 medium to fix nuts to studs
222 low on any thing you might need to remove at the side of the road
hermatite red for base gaskets
wellseal for head just grease on all other gaskets to soften them

grease or oil the seal and keep rotating the crank as you pull it into place then as you push down the mag flange.

replacement large block kit

looking to retire my home tune v1 mugello 225 it has a little to much exh & inlet timing , so what i'm after is a kit that will pull 7500rpm on 4.8 sx box with a devtour and 30mm (this is flat out on the level in good conditions not every day) must be left hand carb as after owning scooter for 28 yr...
