Re: How fast can a scooter really go? Dyno Data & Sprint Sim

I found this thread very interesting as aerodynamics were on the top of my sprinting agenda during the British speed records events from 1981 to 83. First of all I have lots of admiration for Darrell and his team who have produced several wonderfully fast and reliable machines including the two rece...

Re: Straightliners Scooter dates for 2013

In reply to wack 63's posting about Kieth, by late afternoon we heard that his leg, caught under the scooter as he fell, was broken in two places and would require an operation to pin it in place. He was taken to Boston's Pilgrim hospital, unfortunately a long way from home. I've no doubt it will be...

Re: Who was the lambretta importer in 1981

Ray Kemp was definately importing Indian GP's in 1981, I remember him showing me several new ones which had arrived from the factory in appalling condition! I believe they had to be thoroughly checked over mechanically and completely repainted.

Re: Model C transmission

I 've had a look through my list of special tools but can't find one that was made specifically for pulling the bushes out, but I did find one for refitting them! However, looking again at your excellent photos there are ridges on the inside of the bush to seat the bearings, can you use these to pul...

Re: Model C transmission

OK I did wonder if it was possible to pull both bushes out to the same side as I could see they have some odd shape shown in the parts diagram but having not seen them out I did'nt know for sure. Can I suggest you make some enquiries about obtaining new ones before you get these out just incase you ...

Re: Model C transmission

Well done Marc for getting so far in such a short space of time. Of course the manual does not cover anything like this, it says the bush on the nearside (the large one) should tap out with the bearing and gears obviously this has not happened!! Can you heat the casing up and tap it out using a bras...

Re: Model C transmission

http://www.scoot.net/gallery/bbs/page8.jpg Right Marc, first of all I must explain that this is one job I have never done before, when I restored my own model C I got halfway through the process and chickened out due to two things....lack of information and the fact that my engines swinging arm rot...

Re: Model C transmission

Hi folks, I've just seen this thread and my name mentioned!! I'm afraid my computer has been out of action for a while so I apologise for any delay. As its quite late I'll reply tomorrow and will describe what has to be done to remove the swinging arm. I would suggest that if the brass bushes show n...

Re: The barn find of a lifetime

We did not tell the owner it was the oldest British model A in the country but we certainly hoped it would turn out to be, and if anyone can tell me if the registered date in the old log book refers to the date it was registered in this country then it certainly is the oldest. Unfortunately the DVLA...

Re: The barn find of a lifetime

I was wondering if you were still interested in this machine Rui, it seems you are , up to this point. Having spoken to Mau I know he sent the offers to the owner around two weeks ago and I would have thought things would be moving by now. I must admit the actual sale of the A is of no interest, it ...
