Re: Wal Phillips injector

Glad you enjoyed my reply Pete. During the 80's I remember visiting Scunthorpe speedway to buy Methanol, many of the Weslake engined bikes were using the Jetstream injector at the time so it was obviously working for them. I had the pleasure of knowing Wal who was a great rider, tuner and engineer. A...

Re: Wal Phillips injector

Hotspur, Wal Phillips was a well known international speedway rider during the 1930's, his injectors were really designed for speedway, grasstrack or sprinting use were the motor would be used at full throttle most of the time. Of course during the 1960's their success was reported in many magazines...

Sounds like a good idea Dan, so why not do it! I raced a mildly tuned SX for a few years as well as the special, it was good fun and you got twice as many goes! On top of this your suggesting having a bash at sprinting which I'm all in favour of. Any scooter engine producing close on 30bhp should cl...

Re: Quick Shifter

I picked up on Sonny's mention of a positive stop mechanism. Fred Willingham used one on his early sprinters, they were fitted to kneeler type machines as changing gear with the right foot was not as sensitive as the left hand, and changing gear on a kneeler with handlebar controls could be downrigh...

Re: What's it worth? 1949 Lambretta type A

There are a number of ways to distinguish both models and whilst the frames of both look very similar here are a few easy to tell differences; A model Has 7" wheels Handlebars with internal cables Foot gear change No rear suspension Engine which is solidly mounted within the frame Exhaust box m...

Re: What's it worth? 1949 Lambretta type A

This is a really difficult one to answer Willwander as the A type is so rare the amount of money involved is fairly serious! The fact that it's in boxes will obviously effect the price as it will probably cost around £2000 to get it back on the road in a fully restored state. I'm going to stick my ...

Re: Could this have ever possibly worked?

Although I do agree it's a little on the large size there's absolutely no reason why this setup should not have worked. I wonder what bike the reed block came off as I thought the setup I have on the sprinter (which came off a TZ750 Yam) was large enough!!

Re: Model D 1952....whats it worth? £1600 apparently !!!

Well this story did make me smile!! Like the model C, the LC is really quite a rare thing especially one in such good original condition as this one is. I would have thought it was worth about £1000, this is based on the grounds that a fully restored example would probably be worth around £2500-£...
