1.2mm Clutch steels

I was going to swap my standard 1.5mm steels with 1.2mm in my 4 plate using some new Suflex B corks, as this would allow the plates to free up better when compressed. I aware that they are intended for 5 plate setups but would using them have any adverse effects on the above set up ? Best Regards Ch...

Re: JL3 vs Taffspeed mk4 exhausts?

2 more that you may consider are the MB Devtour and also the Franspeed. I believe the Franspeed to be a JL with enhancements such as better fixings, end can and also it's double skined I think ??
However I'm too in this position and I've got a Devtour on back order. ;) ;)

Re: tyre size-gearing

Its the circumference you will need to measure. Judging by these figures, 444mm and 448mm diameter its only 13mm difference in total. This equates to approx 0.1 MPH per 1000 rpm which will be virtually undetectable, by me anyway. Also if you going to fit them to a wide rim this is more likely to dec...

Re: RAPIDO 225: which Wiseco piston and conrod?

Is there any significant weight advantage with a TS250 piston over say an Asso to aid balance on a 58 stroke crank. I can imagine there is but I don't know. Also if it's only the rings that have issue LTH sell some high quality Jap rings so you can widen the exhaust port an extra few mm. http://www....

Re: mallossi type porting

Hi Sean I have a top end prepared by the late Dave Betts of SES and this is basically the same principal as you describe here. It has 3 boost ports feed trough the piston holes which line up with new transfers ground into the liner. I believe that the V3 Mugello has 1 fitted opposite the exhaust por...

Re: Piston ???

TBH you may be better off getting a good quality 2 ring 70mm piston and then getting your barrel re-bored and a honed to 3 thou. Somebody like Mick Abbey would be able to do this and also make sure all the are ports cleaned up and angled correctly for sensible money.

Re: mugello 225, only 12bhp so whats the solution

Cheers for that , I wasn't too far off then. I know the exhaust can be opened up to 65 or 70% of dia, with some quality jap rings but what is the optimum ratio for the transfers, ie 25% of dia for each side, or as wide as possible with as many as possible ground into the bore such as 2 or 3 extras b...
