I hope you replaced the steels as well. You were right GoldenEye, I didn't replace the steels and the clutch never worked correctly. Always biting and never releasing properly. I put that problem to one side as I've been converting the scoot to a Group 6 style racer with drop bars. Inspired by many...

I've used Helicoil on chaincase studs (exhaust & normal studs) and they appear to be ok. It was V-Coil sets from eBay. Much cheaper than Wurth Time Serts which you have to buy in quite large volumes and are really expensive (see this months Scootering with an interview with Sam from LambrettaFin...

I spent a while cleaning up the steels with wire wool and compared them with a spare set. I could not see any difference, no warping etc. so put them back in.I hope you replaced the steels as well.
