Engine out; stand on gearbox end; remove cowl and cylinder head; pour "Plus Gas" or similar into head space- leave a couple of days. Apply heat to piston head area. Try rotating the flywheel back and forth. Use a wooded drift on the piston and hit with hammer. Generally all of the above or...

you shouldn't need a spring compressor anyway for GP links and balls. Can you remove the ball OK?

if you can get one side clear of the stud, you may be able to bend the other stud with a long screwdriver just enough to get the manifold over the top. I'm assuming you've got both nuts off?
