I have a p standard 63 li150, stock exhaust and carb. Bgm ignition and a standard oversize piston for its rebore and have had 60 out of it GPS both ways on a stretch of road. Did you break it in yet. Makes a difference. Find out about the stator and ignition. The main jet for that carb with a gp 150 and 200 is 118 main and 45 pilot. I agree, no matter what, it is interesting for a Brit living in the USA. I rode earlier this year and there were two GP's. Even though I love my LI 150 , I couldn't get over how much I still loved the shape of a GP. Hard to find a nice one over here, and the last six months or so have seen the price...

If the piston is above the ports you should have compression even with a slight leak in the head or plug thread. Is your clutch and Cush drive OK? Try turn it over by hand from the flywheel. Actually, I bought new springs for the bike and new shocks. I got the shocks on a while ago, and it made a world of difference.
