Re: starter motor blowing fuses

Blimey, the vespa types on this forum aren't very helpful are they lol

Is there no-one with a meter that can test their starter motor to see if it is permanently earthed?

Are there any other vespa forums with more helpful members?

starter motor blowing fuses

Helping a mate with his px 200, the starter motor keeps blowing the battery fuse. Starter turns the motor over but as soon as you let go of the button the fuse pops. Removed every other connection from the Main wiring block under the horncast so only the starter motor is connected so nothing else ca...

Re: Wassel unit faulty? EDIT: probably not

Found the issue I hope. Took the BGM stator of and compared it with an Indian one. The Indian one has insulating tape between the coils and metal face of the stator. The BGM one did not and some of the coils were actually touching the plate. This is probably OK under normal circumstances as one end ...

Re: Wassel unit faulty? EDIT: probably not

I have exactly the same symptoms on a BGM stator. The yellow wires exiting it all have continuity to earth. However, with the stator plate removed there is no continuity but the stator is earthed when on the scooter as it is metal touching the earthed engine. Therefore how can the yellows Supposedly...

Re: lth 7 plate clutch

Excellent clutch.

Plus if you ever do need new plates they are cheap on flea bay:

£17.99 for a full set of friction plates, well 6 out of the 7 plates needed.

Another Gary Simpson made seat, well made and cheap and a jolly nice fella, well recommended: http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj141/KCB1969/DSC_0213_zps5a95d9f3.jpg http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj141/KCB1969/DSC_0208_zps4e2a712f.jpg http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj141/KCB1969/DSC_0211_...

Re: Transformation

Forgot about the seat.

A nice chap called Gary Simpson made the one off seat to my spec.

Very reasonable, in fact I would go so far as to say cheap for £108 delivered.

I bought the gel pad that is inside it separately.

Re: Transformation

Yes cut the floor runners out of ally plate, which is a pain to work on with the checquer pattern.

The spacers between the plates and floor are cut out of ally hollow rods.

Re: Transformation

Kevlar material over the steel then coated with epoxy resin. It's a process called skinning. I saw a carbon fibre skinning kit and decided to give it a go with a kevlar effect instead. I bought the parts separately and it cost approx. £200 to do the bits plus £120 for the black powder coating. The f...
