Re: Cleaning small sieze marks barrel and piston?

The method I follow is the one from the two stroke tuning manual. Usually, you would only need two holes, just beneath the piston rings. It really depends upon where your piston is over-heating.....you have to wait for that to happen (you don't need a siezure to see it) before you know where the pis...

Re: Cleaning small sieze marks barrel and piston?

I had it published as a tip in Scooter Scene many years ago. Sticky added that you can also score hash marks with a file if you didn't want to drill the holes. However, I found that the holes are better at the job.

Re: Nylon lined cables

The nylon lined cables I used to get from Taffspeed, where thinner and more tightly wound. I assumed that only they would fit the outers, but never had to try as they never snapped on me.

Re: Cleaning small sieze marks barrel and piston?

You could also drill some 1/2 to 1mm holes in the piston directly beneath the bottom ring on the part where the heart caused the siezure. I have done this many times, it's a trick I got from a dirt bike tuning manual. It helps to keep the piston cool at the very point where it gets hot.

Re: Lambretta lower chain guard?

Forget the lower chain guide. If chain does stretch and starts flapping about a little, it will tear the bottom guide to bits. Use Iwis chains as mentioned, but of course you didn't state the power output. A standard engine isn't gonna put must stress on a standard chain, it'll just stretch over tim...

classic Primmy

Hi, Just dismantled my 1977 Primmy. I am gonna get it stripped and dipped, but I would like to know where I should go for a complete restoration. It looks a bit like Swiss cheese....gonna look worse after being bathed in acid(!!), so it will almost certainly need new legshields and floor etc. Any re...

Re: How To Upload Pictures

Hi, I have a photobucket account. I can get photos in to other forums, but it doesn't seem to work on here.

I copied URL, and pasted into my profile, but no joy.

Any help please?
