Re: Scomadi fork issue series 3

The outboard shock set up is a non-standard, aftermarket, so called improvement - personally I wouldn't assume they'd fit and if you had them sat there then why on earth didn't you fit them during the dry build? Puzzled as to why you'd buy a 2nd set of forks from the same place after no being happy...

Re: RE: Re: Scomadi fork issue series 3

Cheers Ray. I've not surfed the forums for a few years now, it's a shame to see stuff like this is still going on. I'm a great believer in sending this crap back, and making the supplier pay for the return too, however, your not alone in buying stuff in advance, and then finding the problem. At the...

Re: Scomadi fork issue series 3

Hi Vega... your advice was just the job... not happy to have to attack these forks like this... but at least the track will seat properly. Thanks.

Ray

Re: RE: Re: Scomadi fork issue series 3

Is this a batch issue, common on all variations, or outboard/standard damper type or since they were first released? I have a pair of the standard Li type, bought a few years back when they first came out, and now I'm really looking forward to using them  I have only had two sets... one is a ...

Re: Scomadi fork issue series 3

I had the same issue , heating the first track and trying to gentle push it down resulted in the track snapping . Rang PM and they advised a bit of filing on the fork . So the track fits now and the forks are in but the damper brackets are to high! Like you it takes me a few years to build a scoote...

Re: Scomadi fork issue series 3

Thanks to both of you for the replies... on the basis that all the other tracks I have here are sitting on forks already - I will try a local engineering firm in the first case. I discounted this initially because I thought the track would be hardened - and therfore as hard as the tool in a lathe. I...

Re: Scomadi fork issue series 3

Hi all Jumped on my own question, since the subject is the same (it is just another set of Scomdi forks that is the subject of the question this time)... So... more than a year passed and, despite trimming the damper pegs, I could not use the Scomadi 'full-monty' outboard/anti-dive set-up with my S3...

Re: Scomadi fork issue series 3

Great! Just what I didn't want to hear (but thanks for the advice anyway). I have been out there all morning trying to spread the side walls enough to clear the damper without butchering anything - with no success (other than to make the mudguard look like a series 2). Knowing me I will probably tra...

Re: Scomadi fork issue series 3

Thanks for this... sounds like the least destructive idea. I did experiment by swapping the bottom spacer with the top one - then using washers to make a smaller top spacer - but this gave me an issue with the top bolt (I have limited engineering skills and definitely no access to a lathe) - not to ...

Re: Scomadi fork issue series 3

It is the dampers that are hitting the mudguard... (see image) Just been out and had another look - I am guessing that the advice to modify the metalwork before painting is to allow me to 'flare' the mudguard side walls - as opposed to lifting the whole thing clear of the dampers. Is that correct? C...
