Re: IOW Engine fails

I fouled a plug getting off the IOW ferry on the way home. It was as black as night when I took it out and all crusty. It's jetting I've been running for 3 years plus in an RT 230 reed, and whilst I'm always a tad rich its never been as black as that before. New plug started first kick but it felt s...

Re: Engine choice

there maybe some sort of warranty for a dealer built engine as well Really? What would that extend to, I wonder? Having had product failures that include Castrol (2T oil), DRT (gearbox), MBD (cush drive bolt), Mazzuchelli (conrod), Mugello (plating) & A F Rayspeed (conrod) I would be amazed if ...

Re: Final drive ratio

I've a similar set up and mine will pull 17-47 (4.7) I tried with 16-46 (4.9) and it was very good, I only swapped because I had the sprockets. Had I of had to buy new sprockets I'd not have bothered it isn't £100 better!

Re: Gori gp50 on rapido 225

I tried one on an Avanti, RT230 and a GT240. It was crap on all of them as they are low revving torquey motors.

You need to look at where your cylinder produces its power and wether the hi revving GP50 suits it. Mine ended up on an Imola 190 and it's great on that.

Re: Could it be the reeds

If the reeds are damaged you'd struggle to start it unless you have a big hill to bump it down. You'd need to get it spinning at an RPM where the reeds would be mostly open which is pretty much unattainable with a kick starter.

Re: variatronic ignition fitted to a casa 225 timing instructions

The leaflet I got with mine from Cam Lam says 19 with a expansion, as above. When I questioned Cam Lam about this with the logic you guys are applying I was told 19 and wasn't given a reason why not 23 and it retards to 18. But I agree id think it would be at like 14 of maximum revs. http://www.lamb...

Re: Imola gearing

My Imola Kit is on a series 2 TV175. It runs a TV gearbox with standard sprockets. I tried a 16 tooth front sprocket and it wasn't as good. It has a GP50 pipe fitted.

It makes 21hp and pulls strongly from about 4500rpm.
