Re: RT 225 gearing

4.7 will be good. I tested that on mine initially and it was great fun on the back roads but ran out of legs at about 65mph on the motorway.

I have a 110x60 crank, LTH reed a BGM pipe and 30 PHBH carb

Re: Stopping panels falling off

Jumping off panels can also be attributed to the frame loop. Some of the scooter importers have a nasty habit of transporting the Lambrettas standing up on their rear number plates to get more of them in their van. This can shorten the frame loop a bit and makes the panels fly off for fun. A scissor...

Re: Stand problem

I've had a few springs recently that were not hardened correctly and the hooked ends bent straight or they were tight when you fitted them but after one or two uses became slack and too long. That said you need a good cross member to get a good operating stand. check the bolt holes are not pulled an...

RT long rod 230 port timings

Ive got a 225 RT with 60x110 rod. If I set the cylinder head squish with just base gaskets the piston is 3 mm below the TX and EX ports at BDC. Port timings IN 128 TX 132 EX 175. transfer ports seem very high? Alternatively, If I set the piston level with the ports at BDC I need to use head gaskets ...

BGM clubman vs AF twin pipe 48 bore.

On my GT200 kit I've got an AF 48 twin pipe big bore fitted, it goes along quite nicely but its quite noisy. But I have spare a BGM clubman. Is it worth the chore of swapping the pipes, will I see any massive performance gain? Obviously I will have the hassle of possible re jetting etc. Currently it...

Re: Snake Head Carb tops

I couldn't do that as the standard top fouled the tank etc and couldn't get a nice smooth run on the cable or the carb at a decent angle. I have convinced myself it's teflon and pistons are coated in it so it's not a massive issue. All the other snake heads I've seen are nice smooth plastic. Mines q...

Re: Carb issues

More likely the needle position if its boggy in mid range, try raising the needle a notch, if its worse drop it two notches.

Depending on your definition of boggy it can be rich or lean, but if you go richer first you won't seize it up.

Re: Clearance for 110 x 60 ???

I've just done 2 110x60 recently, the more expensive crank with the Yamaha rod didn't need the case modified but the slightly cheaper one did.

I did consider grinding the big end of the rod down a bit but decided it was made that size for a reason and got the casing machined out.
