Re: Hi Comp issue

I'm not familiar with vespa motors, but an often disregarded aspect is the gearbox ratio.

As capacity increases, you can usually lower the gear ratio, which (in the case of lambrettas), has the same effect as a longer kick-start.

Maybe your 23t clutch has already done this?

That's a shame. Don't think I've ever met the chap in real life, but hope he's doing well.

Aye what happened to him? I know there was some controversy on the other forum but he seems to have disappeared altogether.

You're absolutely correct, but if you ask a question on there, you get 20 half-arsed opinions about things that are vaguely connected to what you asked. And every now and again, one sensible bit of advice.

I hate Facebook.

Just a nice motor

Just posting something because I think it's a shame that this once excellent forum is all but dead now.
Almost finished this motor.

Re: 5 plate clutch issue

How thick are your corks? I always use 2.6mm for 5 plate. I prefer to lose thickness from the corks than the steels.

Re: 5 plate clutch issue

I always dry build clutches with no springs. That way you can easily tell if they've got enough clearance. I aim for around 1.5mm, depending on spring ratio, motor torque etc, but 1.5mm is a pretty decent all round number. To get this right, you'll need a selection of clutch steels. Personally I nev...

Aye, I reckon you're right. Never used twitter, but I hate Facebook.

This forum was way better.

Re: Reverse pull front drum brake

Works great. LI can is better than GP cam. Is that because the earlier cams offer greater feel? Before I could afford a hydraulic brake (MSC) for racing, I ran a TV175 S2 drum with reverse pull & the later shoes & cam. It was really good but needed great care in the wet. Yes, it is. The gp ...

Take both seals out. It's running in oil, so will benefit from being fully exposed to its environment.
