Running in a new Italian barell. Piston and head
Hi I have just had a new italian 150cc Barell and piston fitted on my 1968 SX 150 would welcome any advice on running the top end in please.

Hi guys. Just an update as regards to what we found. Found the piston to be marked on the exhause side quite a heavy mark on it and also the oposite side of the piston and the barell was heavily polished were it had been picking up. Hi guys the timing was out at 22 degrees that is advanced and after listening to your helpfull coments I have decided to get a standard 175 barell and head and fit a new piston and crank.. Hopefully the work will be done on tuesday when I take it back to mansfield. The Scooterhub. Just realy gutted ...

Hi Guys
I am taking it back to scooter hub on tuesday and we are going to strip it to have a look will get back to you with more info.. all I can tell you is the engine work was done by super tune and it cost over a £1000 to do by previous owner.. thanks for your input ...

is it in fact an SX150 with a replacement 125 engine or an LI 125 Special? Anyway, if the original cylinder was a 125 item (52mm) and its been bored to 175 (62mm), then the walls are way too thin and they warp when hot = seizing. Had same problem always flooding. Float sticking. Put new float and pin sorted the problem out for me.

I was told it is a 125 tuned to 175. Sorry i m not a mechanic. Dont know much about engines. Its deffo a 125 engine tuned to 175.how they have done it dont know.

Just had a 1968 sx 150 with 125 engine tuned to 175. Plug is burning perfect chocolate brown. The scooter seems to have quite a bit of vibration when I throttle it up. But after about 7 miles I can feel the engine tighten up and if I carry on it soft seizes and I got to leave cool down for 20 mins b...
