Re: Shearing woodruffs
I lapped with coarse and then fine and got a good colour. Im wondering if some reason its not pulling onto the taper even though its as tight as i can get it. Just a thought: Is there some muck in the woodruff keyway, or are the keys being used too high in profile? I've heard somewhere that some ke...

Re: Series 2 headset screws
Yes, Series 2 are slightly longer. If S3 screws are used on an S2 headset they will only screw into the first thread or two in the headset top.sydduckett wrote:Are the two main headset screws on a series two longer than a series 3?

Re: Asbestos brake linings.
Use of asbestos material in this country was finally banned in 1999 on the back of EU-wide legislation. So something dating back to the late '60s produced anywhere in Europe, which could contain asbestos fibres to improve it's performance, is likely to do so. So for safety's sake assume NOS brake s...

Re: How do I get this out?
Here's what I did - it'll last for ever. Pilot drill centre of broken bolt, then progressively drill out the pilot hole and the surrounding ali to 10mm and to a depth of 20mm BUT NO DEEPER. Tap this 10mm hole out to 12mm, then screw and Loctite a 12mm bolt into the hole. Carefully cut this off flush...

Re: Lambretta Cutting out ?
The "tingling" noise could well be pinking/preignition caused by the loss of fuel flow - effectively causing the engine to run lean for a few seconds before the fuel supply is completely lost. So perhaps start with checking the fuel tap flow, fuel cap breather, carb filter and the float ne...

Re: brass exhaust nuts
[quote="davla"]The whole point of a spring washer is that it gets stuck into the surface that you're screwing the nut up against and the nut, and helps prevent the nut coming undone. The extra flat washer completely negates the effect of the spring washer. It may create some tension but it...

Re: rear shocker mount knackered
It's a big coarse thread on mild steel, so unless it's had some serious abuse or has been cross-threaded a thread file or the correct die should clean up the threads ok.

Re: A bit boggy - cold weather???
Your gadgets and add ons should be taking power from the lighting circuit not the HT. Tell us more about your engine spec and set up. And where was it dynoed? Yep. Surely if there was insufficient energy to create a fat spark the symptom would be a misfire. Likewise for any electrical fault. Choke ...
