Re: Daily touring mileage

hat wrote: Wed Jul 01, 2020 4:20 pm bear in mind as well, on a std tank you're doing 50 miles or so before you hit reserve so even a 200 mile day is probably 4 fuel stops
As one of our group often says " no point having a 100 mile tank when I've got a 60 mile arse"
We usually aim for around 70 miles between stops

Re: Daily touring mileage

I've done quite a lot of long distance touring (mostly in groups) and am usually happy aiming for between 180-220 a day. Ideally leave by 10 and get to your destination by 5 (it happens once in a while). More typically in a group it's leave when you can (if it's before 12 you're doing well) and get ...

Re: Smiths Speedo Recalibration

I'm thinking of giving up on this as it's in the too hard box. My headset has been customised and the Smiths speedo is a good fit, but not having it calibrated is a big issue. Surely someone must've had one converted or sorted. I know a few guys just bend the needle so it reads ok at a mid speed li...

Re: LCGB AGM ref BLOA

The first Derby 150 was a success but only because Steve Grant did all the work himself. Not true, and please never use me to illustrate any point you have to make Odd, thats not what you said to me on the day. It is quite flattering that you think that and also that you have such great rec...

Re: Mini Atomic Reed Valve

I ran one all last year on my (Yam pistoned) Rapido 230. No cutting of fins and plenty of clearance with a 30mm PHBH and remote filter. Mine is a touring set up in a S1 so not lightening quick pick up/acceleration but it's no slouch either and the fuel consumption is equivalent to others in our grou...

Re: Best rear hub studs......

I've had two 'go' which I can only put down to over enthusiastic tightening of the wheel nuts though it seems strange to have two go in quick succession. I did have the hub sprayed recently and there was some paint on the studs though I hardly think that explains it. In both cases the wheel nuts wo...
