Re: Shocking!

That looks like mine, but difficult to tell now it's broken. Edit: Looking again at the broken shock photo, mine did have the silver collar/nut above the spring retaining plate, so I guess that makes it a newer one. Having checked my paperwork, it's actually older than I remembered, coming on my new...

Re: Shocking!

The Airhawk is a Cruiser 2 Small Pillion, the size is perfect for a Lambretta seat. I bought it a few weeks ago in an effort to stop the constant complaints from my wife about comfort on the back. She says it's a lot better, but I don't think anything can alleviate the discomfort of the hard ridge a...

Re: Shocking!

Thanks for Escorts' contact details. I don't suppose it'll make any difference, but I've emailed informing them of the problem, and linking to this thread.

Re: Shocking!

Just got round to properly surveying the damage. The panel is a bit pushed out from where the shock made a break for freedom, but seems to be holding on OK (why did it have to happen to my nice shiny S3 and not my tatty S2?!). The shock itself has sheared clean through by the top plate: https://scon...

Re: Shocking!

Thanks - I think the Scootopia one is a rebranded Carbone, which I've just ordered from SIP (cheaper for me):

Re: Shocking!

I'm not risking it again, a different brand for me from now on. I'm glad I stayed upright, but it's a pain that the panel got bent where it was forced off.

Re: Shocking!

I've never known it before. OK, so it's a cheapo Escorts, but it shouldn't happen. The shock's a couple of years old with less than 2000km on it. Riding 2-up, no luggage, total weight around 24 stone. The bumpstop rubber prevented a complete lock-up, but the tyre still touched the mudguard judging b...

Shocking!

Riding along yesterday and this happened. Luckily I was approaching a junction and going slowly, a few minutes earlier and I was going around 50mph :( https://scontent-bru2-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-0/p296x100/13912699_1096952167052254_8719575434988988525_n.jpg?oh=180e18f6995fa6065bb4dd10d1a30f34&oe...

Re: Li150 upgrade advice.

Not sure if it was just a coincidence but a thousand or so km after fitting a Casa kit, my standard LI crank gave up the ghost, taking the kit with it. Replaced the crank with a DL one and fitted a BGM 195. Fingers crossed, but no problems so far.

Re: Li150 upgrade advice.

I agree with the above. Regarding tools and knowledge, I recommend joining the Lambretta Club HK. They have a small workshop unit where you can do the conversion, and will also be able to give you advice.
