Re: Electronic ignitions

Casatronic has been very reliable for me. Positives are reliability, easy starting, quality feel. Negatives are the flywheel holder could be stronger and in my case, brake light on at low revs means very poor headlight. led rear is essential! Could they have designed a worse flywheel holder ?! I'm ...

Re: Lambretta rear shock absorber stud replacement.

The takeaway to me is if you want a big block you need to buy a big block but I don't see why there would be any problems with doing a case conversion if it is done correctly. Some people do really well at it https://www.mbscooters.co.uk/info/mb-*-engineering-work/mb-*-casing-restoration+260.html I'...

Re: Lambretta rear shock absorber stud replacement.

As a lifetime engineer that had to have some kind of cheap transport from 1973 onwards, the consequences were that Lambrettas & I have never been apart. I am not saying that alternative views are wrong, but IME, the problem with welding the alloy used in Lambrettas are the high Zinc content, wh...

Re: Lambretta rear shock absorber stud replacement.

These are press fit with teeth to keep them from rotating. It's too important of a piece of suspension to trust to a little grub screw. The hole is already damaged and will only get worse. The grub screw might hold for a little while but will fail. Have it welded and repaired correctly. http://www.s...

Re: Frame modification necessary for S3 when using 60/110 crank and RT225?

So far I have built 3 of these motors now. All using 60/110 crankshafts and RT225 kits. After installing the engines into the S3 frames, the cylinders, with cooling tin installed, are touching the front right part of the frame loop. Is the only good solution for this problem to trim an amount off t...

https://www.scooterhelp.com/tuning/lam.gear.calc.html

I assume it has stock gearing, 15/46 LI150. Just plug in the numbers and it will spit out a nice chart.

There are other gearing calculators out there that go in to a lot more detail but this one will work for the basics.

Re: Which Electronic Ignition Kit

what about the latest " 12 pole" Systems from Vape or Casa Ducati does anybody have any bad experiences with these systems ? if not they must be the way to go for reliability at least I've set up and run one Casa Ducati and it's great. No issues at all and comes with all the bits. Makes f...

Re: Series 2 hard to kick over

That's good news! Fingers crossed..... You did check chain alignment though, I hope? I know it can be a pain, but worth doing. I did check that and they were good. It's still a little tough to roll over but not if you kick it like a grownup. I suspect it's more to do with the series 1ness of it now...

Re: Series 2 hard to kick over

I might have found the issue. The rear sprocket was hitting the kick start assembly and causing that to jam up. I swapped out the 1.5mm shim for a .5mm shim, checked to make sure everything still spun and buttoned it back up. Ran out of time but I did a roll over on it by hand and it felt a lot bett...

Re: Series 2 hard to kick over

Could this be the Kickstart shaft kissing the Clutch? The replacement shafts have a bit more meat on the knuckle and doesn't leave a lot of room. They used to sell a reamer tool that skims 1-2mm of the face of the kickstart hole and bush on the side case so it sits back a bit further, and a thicker...
