Definitely go bigger with the Venturi, I'm running a 122 without, 55/160 3be mixer and 140 air corrector.
Maybe check the tickover screw as well as the mixture screw. If the mixture screw is slotted then 1 1/2 turns if not then 2 1/2. These are just starting points.

My pollini 177 on my LML reedvalve engine got very hot mid throttle. 26/26 carb, 122 main jet, absolutely fine at WOT around the 280 mark, plug a nice colour etc. but went over 300 at about half throttle. Changed the air corrector from a 160 to a 140 and all is good. No more 'I need to thrash it a b...

I've got one if you get stuck. £40 plus postage.
