Re: Eric Cope smashes 127mph at Elvington on full-bodied Taylor Tuned Lambretta 250cc

This needs to be run at the Bonneville Salt flats. https://saltflats.com/ Set a world record, be that guy. :D We ran open class at Bonneville last year, it's a blast. I ran a RB20 on a cutdown (exploded the crank). Costa Mesa rider on his Monza 230 made 87 mph and there was Utah rider on a full bod...

Re: Rocho68 6-plate clutch advice needed

I have a 7-plate Rocho setup, hydraulically-actuated, on my Rotax 300 setup. Works great, nice and smooth and seems to handle the power just fine. Using Maxima MTL 85wt. fluid.

Re: Retard, advance, retard add-on ignition profile?

Not sure what you're building but a thumper with decent compression is going to be a bit of a bear regardless of the ignition timing, my 300cc Rotax case in point. It takes quite a kick to light it off, but usually fires within a kick or two. I have an MSD setup, which allows me to set the trigger a...

Re: Balancing a lambretta crank/top end??

Interesting idea. I would assume that the drive side components are fairly balanced as is the flywheel. And if they're not, they should be. The same for the crank. That would put the rotating assembly at a "zero balance" or neutral state, typically referred to being "internally balanc...

Re: 1/4 turn fasteners

I used them on the Rotax 300 bike for the side panels, floorboards, and the glovebox. Will probably do the same for the legshield and the front fender before it's finished as it makes disassembly an absolute breeze and makes for a foolproof installation (ie no rattles, vibration, etc) and they won't...

Re: Rotax 300 builld

Bike seems to be happy with the new/old stator. Made the 100 mile ride today without a hitch! Beautiful weather and a great turnout, nearly 100 bikes. Big thanks to the Long Beach Classic Scooter Club for putting on the event. https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1746/28505695148_3e9efe68e2_z.jpg IMG_6744...

Re: Rotax 300 builld

Getting ready for this weekend's Classic Not Plastic event here in Long Beach and it looks like we gots some problems! I thought the charging system wasn't working as it used to and after a probe with the multimeter, my suspicions were verified. Looks like the flywheel and the stator became a bit to...
