Re: Horrendous scraping when kicking over
Head off barrel off. Piston will not move beyond bottom dead centre. Bore and rings OK.
Gearbox casing off everything looks OK to me.

Yes but only 1 revolutionthen it jams, turns back 1 rev then jams. 2) does it only catch/ jam/ scrape if you use the kick start? Chris Only scrapes when using kick start. Someti...

Horrendous scraping when kicking over
Can the head/barrel be taken off without removing the engine?

Re: Horrendous scraping when kicking over
If the top end turns over ok by turning the flywheel then I'd question if it is not an issue with the kickstart or transmission. I've had a clutch circlip pop out and cause issue. It might be worth having the side casing off for a peak before starting to strip the top end. Adam This is something I....

Re: Horrendous scraping when kicking over
No it's far more serious. Seems to me to be a broken ring or something. The scraping noise is only heard when using kick start though and the piston appears to move freely when turning the flywheel. It's going to need a strip down to see what it is and it's not something I'm relishing. When it does ...
