Thanks all, I guess full DC is the way forward, just seems a bit daunting all this taking apart and putting back together ;)

It's not the soldering it's the taking apart of the mechanism and refitting.

and ideally use that C connection to isolate the battery when not running, otherwise it may drain back through the circuit. but even better, convert the whole bike to DC... Sorry to be thick again but what would I connect "C" to? And are any of the 5 pin type available suitable? As for DC...

AC wiring questions.

I'm posting this as a different thread to my Pathfinders post but in a way it's relevant. My Lambretta has an Electronic ignition CDI unit and a 3 pin regulator. I assume it's 12v AC, no idea. Can I replace the 3 pin regulator unit with the 5 pin version like this http://scoot.net/gallery/bbs/DSCN00...
