Horrendous scraping when kicking over
Well to their credit AF Rayspeed have responded asking me to either get the engine or scooter to them and they'll take a look at it. The engine, however, has been stripped and the big end bearing has disintegrated. I'm going to scource a new crankshaft assembly and get that fitted. http://www.scoote...

Re: Horrendous scraping when kicking over
No reply, as yet, from AF Rayspeed. I've taken the engine out and am dropping it off at a local bike mechanic's to have the damage assessed and then repaired.

Which is the very reason I'm not using Soley Scooters.Timbo wrote:Make sure you ask how long it will take him to do it..... .....and if he names a month ask him what year....
I have emailed AF Rayspeed to let them know what has happened. I'm not expecting much but I think the should be told.

Re: Horrendous scraping when kicking over
There's a guy local who says drop the engine and take it round. He'll strip the crankshaft out look at what needs replacing but also suggests replacing the seals and main bearings too, just to be on the safe side.

Re: Horrendous scraping when kicking over
Can someone tell me what lubricates the big end bearing.
EDit - looks like fuel mixture.
Also whilst trying to turn the flywheel with a screwdriver it jammed and one of the cooling ins snapped off DOH! Will this affect balancing too much? Or should it need replacing?

Re: Horrendous scraping when kicking over
I'm assuming it'd be better to replace the whole crankshaft and not just the big end bearing?

Horrendous scraping when kicking over
Well big end bearings gone definitely I can move the con rod about 10mm at the big end. Bugger and damn.
It looks like I need special tools for the crank. May as well take the engine out and take it somewhere to be done.

They don't feel soft enough for alloy.
