Re: Who does the 185/200 small block kits

With regards to these kits we have pulled the last batch as the ports were way out. the exhaust port sits approx. 3 mm low and the top ring is visible at bottom of the stroke, these kits have got gradually worse so we have been looking at other options. other problems were the combustion chamber in...

Re: Will carb run at this angle?

The two options I would try, which would be better than what you've got- 1- See if making a rubber mount manifold out of a SH2/22 manifold would help. That will keep things at a more stock angle (should be lower?). You can also cut the manifold to the length needed, and even cut it at a slight angle...

Re: TV 175 Suzuki Conversion Piston Skirt

You sure it's a TV rod and TS piston? 58mm stroke? I've done quite of few of these (normally with 115 yam rod), and the inlet timing is almost always within range as stock as a mild tune. Somewhere in the 140's (degrees of open time) if I remember correctly. I don't ever recall having it hit the cas...

Re: LT coil fecked - options?

You didn't by any chance ride in the rain or hit puddles the day before did you? I have a friend who had wiring grommet/gasket troubles and he would burn out LT coils any time it rained. 3 Rain storms=3 coils burnt. Would run fine for hundreds of miles in the dry though.

Re: Compression/height Issues - Rapido Kit

First thing I would do is plug your numbers into a port timing calculator. Then you can see how the timings change with and without the base gasket (which you'll see by altering the deck height measurement). You can also check how the bottom of the exhaust and transfer ports line up with the piston ...

Re: Possible causes of rapid ring wear?

Thanks for the responses fellas! As far as I know, the tanks have not been blasted and are original to the bikes, but clean-ish. I was thinking maybe it could come from honing grit, but the barrels were cleaned well, then coated in a thin layer of oil to prevent rust, by me. I don't believe that the...

Possible causes of rapid ring wear?

Has anyone ever had rings wear very rapidly? Like going from 10 thou ring gap to 2mm in around 100 miles? I've been aware of 3 top ends now that have done that and I have no idea why. I haven't assembled any of them. 2 were the junk indian kits (186cc), the newest one is a 225 BGM piston in an iron ...

Re: Starstream crank repair

The early J100/125 crank used a stepped crank pin. This didn't give enough grip on the webs and many of them spun out of line fairly quickly. The later version was a straight pin. The Casa rod kits are all straight pin as far as I know. I'm fairly certain you'd have the straight pin. A rough measure...

Re: biggest bore on a lambretta

OK, old thread but I've just come across it... and it happens to be an issue still close to my heart. My mind has played on this for a long time but I still keep coming back to needing a barrel with a thicker wall. Even if you plug the stud holes and bore out, you soon run out of bore wall. Little ...

Re: head squish

If you have 2mm clearance at the top of the barrel with the piston at TDC, then you'll have to machine the barrel if you want to close the squish clearance up. You can plug your port heights into a calculator to quickly find out where you're at. If the timings sit good where you're at, then machine ...
