Re: Trying to get an understanding on ignition systems for GT186...

I was hoping to get it to pull right through the rev range. Unless I’m mistaken, the preferred timing set up is a static 19 degrees btdc to prevent it hitting its ceiling and sort of ‘four stroking’ at high revs. So by using the Hermes CDI it can be set at static timing (or there are two variable s...

What is it not doing now that you want it to do? I was hoping to get it to pull right through the rev range. Re: GT186 revs Question

That’s what I’m wondering, I’ll report back when I’ve tried it. Either that or the TSR pipe isn’t as revvy as the manufacturers claim and then I guess it will be settle with it or try a different pipe - the Fran Race isn’t cheap, though, eh....? No Fran Races aren't cheap, but then Gori and Ron Mos...

Re: GT186 revs Question

I run mine open mouthed, could it be the elbow constricting under high revs restricting flow?

Re: GT186 revs Question

My 186 is jetted same as yours with the only difference being AV268 needle jet and 300 float needle, I run with a Franspeed race. No rev counter on mine but happily revs 8000+.

Re: GT186 revs Question

Might be worth speaking to Richard Taylor, he generally advises against using Varitronic with the GT kits

Re: What Speed From What Kit? (ballpark)

GT186, Li150 16/16 60/110 crank, PHBH30, Fran Race, will cruise 65mph comfortably and I have clocked high 70's in favourable conditions whilst fully loaded with rally gear. GT200, Li150 17/16, 58/107 crank, PHBH30, BGM clubman, similar speed to the above but have hit the low 80's. All speeds from my...

Re: Mod 1 and 2 On Scooter

IIRC you go through the speed trap twice, once for the emergency stop and once for the hazard avoidance. You need to do a minimum speed of 50kph, which isn't much but you only get a short run to get up to that speed which a standard 125 may struggle with. Fail to reach that speed and you fail the te...

Re: Tyre Choices

I'm glad this topic has popped up. I'm a brand new rider, got a PX125, scoot has got Michelin tyres. I'm using the scooter in all weathers for going to work. I was wondering which tyres would be best. That tracking thing when riding is a pain especially as i'm still pretty much learning to ride. I ...
